We are leaving tomorrow afternoon for Riga, Latvia!

Life has been busy, we've been meeting so many amazing people. There is a darkroom on campus that we have full access to (for three euros a day, including chemicals!). We've also joined a photography club that meets twice a month to discuss each others' pictures.

While having tea with some neighbors we discovered that they have an interest in analog synthesizers, and one of them is an electronics engineer! He and Robert are working on a top secret project together as of last night.

I've been learning a lot in my Finnish Language course, and it's exciting! My Hitchcock Film class is half taught in Finnish and I can't understand a word of it, but I can introduce myself and ask basic questions!

For example:

Moi! Mä olen Kate, a ja mä vuotias 22. Mä asun Jyväskylässa muttä mä olen kotoisin Americasta. Mä rakasta Ingmar Bergman elokuvia ja Sally Mann's valokuvia. Mä puhun Englantia a ja vähän Suomea. Mä opiskelen valokuvaus ja kielia Suomea.

Mitä kuuluu?

It's fun to learn a language as rare as Finnish, it's like having a little secret from the majority of the world. I can comment on your professions behind your back and you would never know! Hah!

We miss you all!

Moi Moi,

Kate and Robert
